Macro-influencers are celebrities or relevant personalities that monopolize large volumes of fans or followers on social networks. This allows them to have immediate access to a large audience and thus be able to influence their decision making.  The contribution of this type of profiles on our hotel would be based on an association of complementary values and an instantaneous exposure to large communities; all this would be associated with the marketing strategy of our hotel and focused on the generation of leads, as well as bookings.

There are stimuli that help either to meet those needs in the form of content or to shape those perceptions. Macro and micro-influencers become tools for booking that result in direct communication with the traveler. Synchronizing influencer strategies with the product is a hotel marketing action closely associated with generating backlinks and qualified traffic for our site. It’s not easy to generate visibility in our market, and influencers are an appealing segmented focus when analyzing and integrating them into our hotel marketing strategies.
Esta temática ha generado estudios muy interesantes. Según un estudio de 2016 planteado por Instagram y ejecutado por la agencia de publicidad Markerly, se ha demostrado cómo las personas que siguen a micro-influenciadores son más comprometidas y activas en las redes sociales que los que siguen a celebridades y, además, tienen más posibilidades de interrelacionarse con las marcas. Al mismo tiempo, otro estudio de 2016 por el contenido de marketing Collective Bias nos deja lo siguiente: “El 60% de los consumidores dijo que habitualmente consultan blogs o sitios de medios sociales antes de hacer compras”. Una vez contextualizado el fenómeno, nos metemos en materia y “aterrizamos” los conceptos de macro y micro influenciador para analizar qué posibilidades pueden tener estos perfiles en lo que concierne a la relación que pueden establecer con tu hotel.

Un ejemplo podría ser el caso en el que Rosewood Hotels & Resorts contrató a la actriz Jessica Alba como brand curator. El éxito no viene de que los clientes potenciales la vean como una experta en experiencia, sino porque vinculan el alojamiento a un nombre y una cara familiares. Este hecho, asociado a los valores positivos y aspiracionales que transmite una celebrity, hace que pueda ser una herramienta de branding muy potente.

Relación entre Micro y Macro Influenciadores en la industria hotelera.

El acceso a los Macro-influenciadores, por su propias características, se ve más asociado a grandes cadenas que pueden ligarse de una forma más directa a su popularidad y a costear el caché de el/la celebrity. Estas acciones suelen ir acompañadas de estrategias de comunicación y marketing enfocadas en la optimización de la repercusión en medios masivos. Por otro lado, los Micro-influenciadores pueden encajar mejor dentro de acciones más personalizadas y destinadas a mercados concretos, como puede ser cualquier tipo de perfil de alojamiento. Generar acciones segmentadas, con un mayor nivel de tracking y con unas métricas más cuantificables sobre el ROI de la acción hacen de los Micro-influenciadores una opción muy a tener en cuenta. En 2017, los hoteles Marriott han reclutado a 4 Micro-influenciadores para dirigir su última campaña Snapchat, centrada en la captación de un tráfico más preciso sobre canales no asociados a aspectos familiarizados con su propia marca, saliéndose totalmente de su contexto y analizando resultados.
From a point of view solely focused on the ROI, micro-influencers are a safer investment than macro-influencers. These are two actions that can fit into budgets with completely different audience volumes and that will boost your market in terms of mass and brand (macro) or, on the contrary, choose to be more precise and niche-focused (micro), both equally valid. Now you have the ultimate decision to choose a type of influencer. Determine your needs, measure your parameters and… charge!
